Obstacles Foundations

​The Obstacle Foundations class is without a doubt the most important class of all.
We employ techniques that have been proven to be the most effective in teaching
your dogs to perform each obstacle found on an agility course. In this series of
​classes all dogs will be working on lead.

The focus of this class will be on performance of each agility obstacle. Contact
obstacles will begin at lower heights for safety as they learn how to negotiate
each obstacle. The contacts will gradually be raised up with the goal of full
height on each obstacle.

Criteria for Advancement:
Demonstrated ability to perform each of the obstacles with minimal supervision
and coaching. Basic obedience skills, such as sit, down, stay and come will be
​tested and must be performed to a satisfactory level before progressing.

​Advanced obstacles builds on the foundations learned in Obstacle Foundations while adding the challenge of proofing your dog's performance of each obstacle. Contact obstacles are full height in this class.

Criteria for Graduation:
Demonstrated ability to independently perform each obstacle including contact obstacles at full height and an understanding of the performance of a set of 12 weave poles.
