Advanced fitness is geared towards canine athletes who are competing in physically demanding sports with the goal of increasing functional strength, flexibility, and body awareness to better perform the variety of tasks they are asked to do. We will cover a variety of exciting and challenging exercises that target both full body and specific muscle groups while having fun with our dogs!
Goals for this class will be:
Performance of both basic and advanced fitness exercises
Increased strength and flexibility
Better understanding of weight shifting
Knowledge of how to progress various exercises and which muscle groups they target
Increased understanding of how various exercises translate to sports behaviors
Pre-requisites – dogs entering the class should have all of the following:
Knowledge of positions (sit, down, stand)
Value for having paws on equipment (FitPaws equipment, feed bowls, stools/chairs etc…)
Some targeting behavior (i.e. nose touch, chin rest, sustained nose touch)
